About

The 24 Hour Lions Roar is a timed trail event held in Columbia, Missouri, on April 16–17, 2027. Three formats are on the schedule and each one asks you to cover as much ground as you can before the clock stops: the 24-hour begins Friday at 6:00 p.m., the 12-hour starts Saturday at 6:00 a.m., and the 6-hour goes off at noon on Saturday.

Timed races work differently from a fixed-distance ultra. There is no finish line waiting at a set mileage, so pacing, fueling and how long you spend standing still decide your total. The 6-hour is a reasonable entry point if you have run a trail half marathon or a 50K, while the 12- and 24-hour formats reward runners who have practiced eating on the move and, in the case of the overnight event, running in the dark. Build toward it with a long run every week and at least one session on your feet for several hours.
