Snow Joke Half Marathon

Snow Joke Half Marathon is a single-distance winter race in Seeley Lake, Montana, run on February 27, 2027. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 11:00 a.m., a notably late gun time for a road race and one that gives the morning a chance to warm before you head out. It is put on by Run Wild Missoula, the running organization behind a number of events in western Montana.

A late-February half in the northern Rockies is a winter-conditions race first and a time trial second: dress for the temperature at the start, plan for footing that may not be dry, and run by effort rather than watching splits. That makes it a satisfying goal if you have kept training through the cold months, and a poor choice for a first attempt at 13.1 miles. Build for about 12 weeks with a weekly long run.
