Canal Run

Canal Run takes place on July 17, 2027, in Hancock, on the Keweenaw peninsula of Michigan. The half marathon (13.1 mi) starts at 7:30 a.m., the ten-mile runs at 8:00 a.m., the five-miler (8 km) at 8:50 a.m., a two-mile run and walk at 9:20 a.m. and a children's dash afterwards. Categories are open to wheelchair users and to runners with prosthetics.

The ten-mile distance is the one worth noting here: it is the ideal rehearsal for an autumn half marathon, long enough to test your fuelling but short enough to recover from within a week. Run it at the pace you intend to hold over thirteen miles rather than racing it flat out, and it will tell you more than any training session could.
