About

The Big Sur International Marathon follows Highway 1 from Big Sur to Carmel in late April, along one of the most spectacular coastal roads in the world: cliffs, the Pacific Ocean and Bixby Creek Bridge, where a pianist plays as runners go by. The course is hilly, with the climb to Hurricane Point at mile 10.

Around 8,000 participants across the marathon and companion distances, with lottery registration.
