Tunnel Hill 100

Tunnel Hill 100 takes place in Vienna, Illinois, on November 14, 2026, organized by Durbin Race Management. Three formats are offered on the Tunnel Hill trail, all starting at 7:00 AM: a 100-mile, a 100K (62 miles) and a 50-mile. The shared start means the whole field sets out together and splits by distance along the way.

Tunnel Hill is a rail-trail, which makes it a rare thing in ultrarunning: a long-distance trail race with a gentle grade and non-technical footing. That is why so many runners choose it for a first 100-mile or a personal best at 50-mile or 100K. Flat does not mean easy, though: the constant running with little hiking wears on your legs differently than mountain courses. Train with long runs on flat, crushed-gravel or paved paths, keep your easy pace truly easy, and work on the mental side of running steady for many hours. Plan 20 weeks with back-to-back long runs for the 100-mile.
