About

The Run for Heroes Half Marathon, 10K and 5K takes place in Vienna, Illinois, in late May, hosted by Revive Vienna. Unlike most road races, it is an afternoon event: the half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 4:00 p.m., the kids' run at 4:50 p.m., and the 10K and 5K at 5:00 p.m.

Runners of all ages can compete for honors in different age brackets, and the free kids' run keeps the atmosphere family-friendly. Local vendors will sell food and refreshments, and music and activities add to the day. Late afternoon in southern Illinois can be warm and humid at that time of year, so hydrate through the day before you start.
