About
Timely Nonsense is a timed trail event held in Chicago, Illinois, on September 12, 2026. Two formats are offered: a 12-hour race and a 6-hour race, in which you cover as much distance as you can before the clock stops.
Timed races are the friendliest way into ultra distances, and an urban setting makes this one easy to reach. The 6-hour is a good goal for runners who want to pass the marathon mark for the first time without worrying about cutoffs, while the 12-hour is a fair shot at 50 miles for those with a couple of ultras behind them, or a long, controlled training day for anyone preparing for a fall 100-miler. Build over 12 to 16 weeks with an emphasis on time on feet, include walking breaks in your long runs, and practice eating real food on the move.
