About

The Wild Oak Trail 100 - "Hot" TWOT takes place in Stokesville, Virginia, on October 16–17, 2026. The 100+ Mile starts at 8 a.m. on October 16, and the 25+ Mile follows at 8 a.m. on October 17 with roughly 7,000 feet of climbing packed into its 25 miles (40.2 km). Both run on the Wild Oak Trail in the mountains of western Virginia.

These are steep, rugged Appalachian miles, and the climbing figure on the shorter race tells you what to expect: this is not a course where you hold an even pace. Power hiking is a skill worth training, not a fallback. The 25+ Mile makes a strong first mountain ultra if you already run comfortably for four or five hours, while the 100+ Mile is a repeat-loop grind best approached after a 50-mile finish and a long block of vertical-heavy weekends.
