About

The Lakes TrailFest in Palmer, Alaska, offers trail races at Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area over 50K (31 miles), 25K (15.5 miles), 10K and 5K, plus a Kids Run. The range of distances suits all levels and encourages families and friends to take part.

On September 25, 2027, the 50K starts at 8:00 a.m., the 25K at 8:30 a.m., the 10K at 9:00 a.m., the 5K at 9:30 a.m. and the Kids Run (1.5 miles) at 10:00 a.m. Runners should be ready for wet, slippery trails and natural obstacles. The rules put safety first, for example by discouraging headphones and banning dogs from the course. Parking requires a state pass, and aid stations vary by race distance. Finisher awards include a mug for every participant.
