The Sugarloaf Marathon and 15K takes place in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, in mid-May. It offers a fast, certified course for athletes looking for a personal best or a Boston Marathon qualifying time. The USATF-sanctioned marathon (26.2 miles) is regularly cited as the fastest course in Maine, and nearly a third of participants have met Boston qualifying standards. A 15K of about 9.3 miles also runs.

The field is limited to 1,500 runners, which keeps the event competitive yet intimate. The route crosses the mountains of western Maine along Route 27, passing the Bigelow Range and following the Carrabassett River. Runners start in Eustis, cross the Carrabassett Valley and finish in Kingfield. The marathon starts at 7:00 a.m. and the 15K at 7:30.
