About

The Sugarloaf Uphill Climb is a 2.5-mile (4 km) mountain race in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, starting at 10:00 a.m. on October 10, 2027. It climbs nearly 2,500 vertical feet (762 m) to the summit of the second-highest peak in Maine, following trails and forest roads up to the top at 4,239 feet (1,292 m).

After making their way back down to the Comp. Center, where awards are presented, participants receive lunch and drinks, including free beer for adults. A bag transport service is available from the start to the finish. Runners are responsible for hiking back down after the race, as no transportation is provided for the descent. Trekking poles are allowed.

All proceeds from the event go to the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center, which supports adaptive recreation programs for people with disabilities.
