Running of the Bulls

Running of the Bulls is held on July 11, 2027, in Big Sky, Montana. Three formats are offered: a half marathon (13.1 mi), an 11 km (6.8 mi) and a 5 km relay. Start times and elevation gain are not listed in our records.

Big Sky sits above 6,500 feet, which is the dominant fact of any race there: the same effort that produces an eight-minute mile at home will produce something appreciably slower. The 11 km is the sensible first choice for visitors — long enough to feel the altitude honestly, short enough that misjudging it costs you a bad twenty minutes rather than a bad two hours.
