The Occoneechee Speedway Relay takes place in Hillsborough, North Carolina, in mid-February, with a 1:00 p.m. start. Bull City Running organizes this 13.5-mile relay on the historic dirt track of the speedway.

Teams of two or four runners complete a set number of laps, with a flexible running order and a flexible distance per runner. Awards go to the top teams in the men's, women's and mixed divisions for both team sizes. All participants receive custom items and post-race refreshments. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. The event emphasizes teamwork and gives individuals a chance to join or form a team. Running on a dirt oval is softer than pavement, but the repeated turns are worth practicing in training.
