Naked Bavarian

Naked Bavarian is a trail race held in Leesport, Pennsylvania, on March 6, 2027. Two distances are offered: 40 miles (64.4 kilometers) and 20 miles (32.2 kilometers). Start times have not been announced for the 2027 edition.

The 20-miler is the natural entry point, close enough to a marathon in duration once you account for trail footing, and a good target if you have a winter of steady mileage behind you. The 40-mile option is a full ultra and rewards patience more than speed: run the first half at a pace that feels almost too easy, hike the climbs from the start, and eat before you feel hungry. A useful build runs 12 to 16 weeks, with a long run reaching 20 to 24 miles on similar terrain and one weekly session on hills. Early March in eastern Pennsylvania can leave trails soft or icy, so choose shoes with real grip.
