About

The Merus Marathon & Ultra takes place in Claude, Texas, in early April, at Merus Adventure Park in Palo Duro Canyon. The trail lineup runs from a 52.4-mile ultra, starting at 6:00 AM, through the marathon (26.2 miles) and half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:00 AM, to a 10K (6.2 miles) at 8:00 AM, a 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:30 AM and a youth trail run of about one mile. The park offers demanding elevation change and varied ground, including sand, sandstone, red dirt, rocks and clay, set against canyon views shaped by millions of years of erosion. Footing changes constantly, so trail experience and sun protection are worth planning for.
