Sirens and Sneakers 5k/10k and fun run is held in Amarillo, Texas, on October 31, 2026. The 10K, 6.2 miles, and the 5K, 3.1 miles, both start at 8:00 a.m., and a 1-mile fun run and walk follows at 8:15 a.m., which makes the morning workable for a family with mixed abilities.
The gap between the 5K and the 10K is wider than the numbers suggest: doubling the distance roughly doubles your time on your feet and shifts the effort from sharp to sustained. Take the 10K if you are already running 15 to 20 miles a week with one longer run in there; otherwise the 5K will give you the better race. Either way, aim to run the second half at least as quick as the first, since a conservative opening mile costs very little and protects the finish.
