The Marine Corps Historic Half takes place in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in mid-May, and is known for its patriotic spirit and its support of the U.S. Marines. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts early, at 6:00 a.m., at Central Park. The route winds through colonial streets and past historic sites, and it climbs the steep Hospital Hill before ending at a finish line decorated with American flags.

A vintage musket shot marks the official start, and runners receive a high-quality technical shirt and a medal. For those who want more, the Esprit de Corps Challenge adds a 5K on Saturday, and participants who complete both races earn a third medal.
