Frosty 5K and Reindeer Run

Frosty 5K and Reindeer Run is held in Stafford, Virginia, on December 20, 2026. The 1 Mile Reindeer Run, for children aged 12 and under, starts at 9:00 a.m., and the 5K (3.1 miles) follows at 9:30 a.m. Both take you along the rolling hills of Mine Road, so neither is a flat course. Costumes are encouraged and the best of them are recognized at an awards ceremony. Everyone who takes part receives a long-sleeve race shirt and a custom medal.

Rolling terrain changes how you should race the 5K: run the uphills by effort rather than by pace, and use the downhills to get the time back instead of braking. Expect a slower finishing time than you would post on a flat course, and judge the day on how hard you worked. Including some hill running in the weeks beforehand will make the climbs feel far less abrupt.
