Marathon de la Mer Morte (Dead Sea Marathon)

The Marathon de la Mer Morte (Dead Sea Marathon) takes place on 5 February 2027 in Ein Bokek, an Israeli resort town between the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea, at the lowest point on Earth, 430 metres below sea level. The climate is mild in February, averaging 19°C.

Distances include a 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, marathon and 50 km ultra, with a 15 km also listed. The almost flat route runs on sand and gravel embankments, starting from the town's promenade and then following the Israel–Jordan border, a buffer zone that is normally closed to the public. With virtually no elevation gain, it is a course made for personal bests. The water, ten times saltier than the ocean, lets you float effortlessly, making for an unusual post-race dip.
