The Kentwood 4th of July 5K is part of the city's annual celebration in Kentwood, held on July 4, 2027, with the 5K (3.1 miles) starting at 8:00 a.m. The festivities also include a pancake breakfast, a parade, a carnival, concerts, food trucks and fireworks.

The race starts and finishes near Kentwood City Hall and Fire Station No. 1, winding through local neighborhoods and trails. Spectators line the course, which coincides with the parade. Finishers receive a medal, and those who register early also get a race T-shirt. For safety reasons, jogging strollers and bikes are not allowed on the course; water stations are provided. The event features a digital race clock and chip timing.
