Kansas City Turkey Trot

Kansas City Turkey Trot is held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026. Two formats start together at 9:00 a.m.: a 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) and a 5K Walk. A kids' race is also part of the program, and virtual options are offered for anyone who wants to take part from elsewhere. The event welcomes participants of every fitness level and aims for a festive atmosphere that suits families as much as regular runners.

Because the run and walk share the same distance, you can decide on the day how hard you want to go. If you are treating it as a race, the 9:00 a.m. start gives you time for a ten-minute warm-up jog and a few strides, and a few weeks of short intervals on top of your usual mileage will sharpen your legs. If you are walking with family, a couple of brisk 45-minute walks beforehand will make the distance feel easy. Late November in Kansas City is typically cold at the start, so wear gloves and a hat you can stash once you warm up.
