About

The Brightstar Downtown 5K in Providence is Rhode Island’s oldest annual race, winding through the busy streets of downtown on September 12, 2027. The Downtown 5K starts at 10:00 a.m., preceded by Youth Races at 9:00 a.m., and runners line up alongside top athletes with live music along the course.

Overall awards are based on gun time, while age-group awards use chip time. Prizes go to the top three in the men’s, women’s and nonbinary categories, as well as to the winners of each men’s and women’s age group. After the finish, runners celebrate at Moonshine Alley, where those 21 and over can enjoy a free Chair 2 beer by showing their race bib. A virtual race option is also available.
