About

Duneland Half Marathon and 5K is run in Chesterton, Indiana, on October 25, 2026, on a certified course that follows the Duneland bike trail for most of its length. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K run and walk follows at 8:10 a.m., with both starting and finishing at Dogwood Park. Entrants receive custom shirts, finishers get unique medals, and live results are posted through the morning. Awards go to overall winners and age-group placers in both events.

A certified course on a paved trail is about as honest a measurement as road racing offers, so this is a fair place to test a goal time. Trails are narrower than roads, though, so start where you belong and pass on the straights. Twelve weeks of consistent running with a weekly long run prepares most runners for the 13.1, while the 5K welcomes walkers who want the same finish line.
