About
The Damascus Marathon takes place on 27 November 2026 in Al Mazzeh, Damascus, Syria. Three road distances are on the programme, with no start time announced: the marathon (42.2 km), the half marathon (21.1 km) and a 10K. The course crosses the historic capital, passing mosques, Ottoman-era palaces and souks in an old city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The event caters as much for seasoned distance runners as for those wanting to discover the city at running pace, with the 10K offering an accessible way in. Overseas participants must book an accommodation package covering the arrangements for their stay in order to take part, which means planning well ahead. As for training, a late-November marathon is built on a summer block, with a gradual build-up of long runs.
