About

Call of the Wilds 25k takes place in Waterville, Pennsylvania, on October 24, 2026. Despite the name, three trail distances are available: a 50K (31 miles) starting at 7:15 AM, a 25K (15.5 miles) at 9:00 AM, and a 10K at 9:30 AM. The organizer's website points to PA Trail Dogs, which also hosts the Little Pine 5 Miler in the same town the following day.

Pennsylvania mountain trails are known for rocks, so ankle stability and careful foot placement matter more than raw speed. For the 25K, a 12-week plan with a weekly technical trail run and a long run of 14 to 16 miles is plenty. The 50K is a good first ultra if you already run trails regularly, and the staggered starts let a group sign up for different distances and still finish around the same time. The 10K rounds things out for those who want a shorter, harder effort.
