About

The 5K Zombie Run & One Mile Family Fun Run - Morganton, NC takes place in downtown Morganton, North Carolina, on October 9, 2027, with the One Mile Family Fun Run (1.6 km) at 10:00 a.m. and the 5K Zombie Run (3.1 miles) at 11:00 a.m. The annual event is organized by the Rotary Club of Morganton with support from UNC Health Blue Ridge.

Zombie Run participants must complete the course while dodging “zombies” trying to grab their flags. Prizes go to the fastest runners and to those who keep all their flags. The family run is for those who prefer a relaxed, non-competitive experience without zombies. A party with food and music wraps up the event, with proceeds going to local organizations such as Burke County Habitat for Humanity and The Enola Group.
