About

The Charity Chase Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Hickory, North Carolina, in mid-April. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 7:00 AM and the half marathon (13.1 miles) at 7:30 AM. Organizers say the elevation change is comparable to climbing a sixty-story building, so both distances are more challenging than a flat course. A large team of volunteers cheers on runners, hands out water and keeps participants safe along the route. Awards go to the top three men and women overall and to the winners of every age group. The event gives runners a chance to aim for a personal best.
