Wekiva Parkway 5K

Wekiva Parkway 5K takes place in Apopka, Florida, on April 3, 2027. Two formats are offered: the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) at 8:00 a.m. and a 1-mile fun run at 9:30 a.m. The wide gap between them makes doubling comfortable, and it lets a family race the 5K first and then jog the mile together afterward.

Central Florida in early April rewards an early start, and 8:00 a.m. is early enough to get the 5K done before the day warms up properly. As a race, the 5K is the most approachable distance on any calendar: if you can run continuously for half an hour, you can finish it, and if you want a time, one weekly session of short fast repeats over three or four weeks will sharpen you considerably. Arrive hydrated, jog easily for ten minutes beforehand, and resist the temptation to sprint the first quarter mile.
