The We Run This Beach Marathon takes place in Gulf Shores, Alabama, in the second half of February, in Gulf State Park, with the start and finish near the Gulf State Park Lodge. The 10K (6.2 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles) run on the first day at 8:00 a.m., and the marathon (26.2 miles) and half marathon (13.1 miles) follow on the second day at 7:00 a.m.

The course overlooks Lake Shelby and the surrounding area. The marathon is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier. Timing includes split times, and a post-race celebration offers food, drinks and music on the white-sand beaches. Average temperatures in this period run between 46 and 66 degrees Fahrenheit, which suits distance running well. Coastal wind can still affect pacing, so plan to run even effort rather than chase splits.
