About

The Vail Trail Scramble takes place in Vail, Arizona, in the first half of April, in the valley between the Santa Rita and Rincon mountains. It offers a trail marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 10K (6.2 miles). Runners enjoy sweeping views, with varied terrain in the marathon and a steadier descent in the shorter races. The event supports the Arizona Trail Association, which maintains the Arizona National Scenic Trail, and it is cup-free to reduce its environmental impact. At the finish, participants can enjoy fresh food, cold drinks and live music. Sun protection and plenty of water are worth packing for an Arizona trail.
