About

The Next Loop 40M/50M Challenge | Deer Grove East is a looped ultramarathon at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve in Palatine, Illinois, offering 40-mile (64.4 km) and 50-mile (80.5 km) distances on August 7, 2027, with a 7:00 a.m. start. It is ideal for athletes ready to go beyond the marathon distance.

The 3.1-mile (5 km) loop winds through mature woodlands, restored prairies, oak savannas and open wetlands. Expect mostly flat to gently rolling terrain with firm footing, making it a great course to test your limits or go for a new distance PR.

A central start/finish area with an aid station lets runners manage hydration, nutrition and gear efficiently while staying focused on their performance: no complicated logistics, just the challenge and what you make of it.
