About

Schaumburg Turkey Trot Half Marathon & 5K is held in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, on November 28, 2026. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K at 8:20 a.m., with a kids 5K fun run for ages 11 and under alongside it and a 100-meter dash for the youngest at 7:45 a.m. Finishers get a medal and a donut at the line. It is a community event that takes in experienced racers and people who just want to walk it.

Since walkers are welcome in the 5K, this is a straightforward way to get a whole household to the same start area. The half is the serious distance on the card: build for it with ten to twelve weeks of consistent running and one weekly long run, and treat the holiday weekend timing as a reason to run it on feel rather than chase a number.
