About

The GIANT 5K Memorial Day Run/Walk in Indianapolis is an untimed 5K (3.1 miles) hosted by the Ben Davis High School JROTC cadets to honor fallen service members. It is scheduled for May 24, 2027, at 8:00 a.m.

The event is run as a military-style formation run, with cadets calling cadence to motivate participants, who can run with the formation or at their own pace; the emphasis is on camaraderie and teamwork. The course stays on the school campus, which is safe and well marked, over hard surfaces and grass. Cadets are stationed along the route to guide and encourage participants. The event supports the JROTC Drill, Rifle and Raider teams as they compete at the national level.
