The Blazin’ Battle Against Brain Cancer in Greenville offers a 10K (6.2 miles) at 8:00 a.m. and a 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:15 a.m. on May 16, 2027. The race is held in memory of Jim Varin, a dedicated Providence firefighter who died of glioblastoma.

The event supports the Rhode Island Brain & Spine Tumor Foundation, which works to help and improve the quality of life of people affected by brain and spinal tumors through awareness and financial assistance. Participants' contributions help fund research and support initiatives. Awards go to the top male and female finishers in several age groups, and the event honors Jim's legacy by helping others facing similar challenges.
