About

The TCS Marathon de Sydney is Australia's biggest running event and a recent addition to the World Marathon Majors circuit. Its marathon (42.2 km, 317 metres of elevation gain) is held in Sydney, New South Wales, on 29 August 2027, drawing around 40,000 participants from more than 102 countries.

Four events make up the programme: the marathon, a 10 km, the Mini Marathon 5K, held on 28 August 2027, and a wheelchair race. The start is on Miller Street, on Sydney's north side.

The route takes in several of the city's landmarks, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the historic Rocks precinct, before reaching the Opera House, the famous building designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and built with cranes imported from France. It also passes close to the Museum of Contemporary Art and finishes near St Mary's Cathedral.
