The Take Flight 5k & 1 Mile Run in Greenville is held at Greenville Downtown Airport on May 22, 2027, offering the rare experience of running on the runway. The 5K (3.1 miles) starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 1 Mile Run (1.6 km) at 8:45 a.m.

The event includes a ceremony honoring fallen veterans, with a parachute team and a tribute to fallen comrades. Strollers and walkers are welcome, but pets are not allowed. Overall and age-group awards are presented in both the 5K and the mile, and proceeds fund the upkeep and improvement of Runway Park.
