About
The Sun Run: La Primera 5K/10K Roadrace with FitKidz Mile is the opening event of the Running Shop/Mizuno SAR Grand Prix series, held at Danny Lopez Park in Tucson on January 17, 2027. The 10K (6.2 miles) starts at 8 a.m., the 5K (3.1 miles) at 8:15 a.m. and the FitKidz Mile for children at 8:45 a.m.
Runners follow a scenic loop along the Santa Cruz River trail, through the rolling hills of the Sweetwater riparian area, a fresh challenge compared with traditional out-and-back routes. Race proceeds benefit the Gratitude and Grace Foundation, which helps families recovering from organ transplants and substance use disorder.
