About

Sugar Mountain Resort’s annual Summit Crawl takes place at Sugar Mountain, Avery County, North Carolina, on July 2, 2027. The race covers 1.2 miles (2 km) straight up to the summit of Sugar Mountain, with about 1,200 feet (366 m) of elevation gain.

This short but very steep format demands an intense effort over a short distance, through mountain terrain and dense forest. Reaching the summit at the end of this concentrated climb is the whole point of this vertical race in the North Carolina Appalachians.
