Some Gave ALL 5K

The Some Gave ALL 5K is a 5K race in Newark, with a single start at 9:00 a.m., scheduled for September 19, 2027. The race honors Staff Sergeant Christopher Slutman, a firefighter and Marine and a passionate runner himself, who was killed in Afghanistan. Proceeds are shared between the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which helps the families of fallen service members and first responders, and the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, which is working to build a national memorial on the National Mall.

The run/walk format means participants can take part without any special training, and whole groups can come together. For those who want to make it a fitness goal, the 5K is an ideal distance for a first taste of racing: three runs a week for one to two months is plenty, as long as runners don't start faster than their steady training pace.
