About

The Snowdonia Marathon Eryri, based in Llanberis, Wales, is one of the UK's most iconic and demanding road marathons, held on 24 October 2026 with a 10.30am start. Created in 1982 as an alternative to city races, it circles Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales and England, on a spectacular 42.2 km course. The start, just outside Llanberis, takes runners up to the Llanberis Pass at 335 metres, before a descent towards Beddgelert, rolling country roads and the decisive climb of Bwlch y Groes (366 metres).

A fast descent then brings runners back to Llanberis for a spectacular finish. With steep climbs, technical descents and unpredictable mountain weather, the race is a true test of endurance, renowned for its warm atmosphere, the support of the local community and its exceptional mountain setting.
