About
The Grand Island Half Marathon takes place near Munising in Alger County, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, in early May. Three formats are available: a half marathon (13.1 miles), a marathon (26.2 miles) and a 50K road run (31.07 miles), so everyone can find a distance that fits. The course passes through typical Upper Peninsula scenery, including woods, sandy beaches and cliffs along Lake Superior, and the area is known for its large, preserved natural spaces, creating a quiet, forested setting. Around Munising, visitors can see waterfalls near town and the protected Pictured Rocks shoreline before or after the race.
