About

The Big Bay Relay takes place in Marquette, Michigan, in mid-May, on Lake Superior's southern shore. It is an annual relay over 26 miles, run by teams of five adults or up to seven young athletes who take turns on short legs before handing off. The race starts at the Kaufman Sports Complex at 8:00 a.m. and ends at Perkins Park in Big Bay.

The event began with just ten teams and has grown into a fixture for the regional running community. Registration includes a race kit for every team member. Because the relay is a team effort, plan your leg order and hand-off logistics ahead of time, and remember that Upper Peninsula weather in spring can be cold and changeable.
