The Seattle Cherry Blossom Run takes place in Seattle, Washington, in mid-April, at Seward Park and along South Lake Washington Boulevard, among blooming cherry trees. The route highlights the city's cherry trees, a gift from Japan in 1929. A half marathon (13.1 miles) runs beside Lake Washington starting at 7:30 AM, followed by a 10K (6.2 miles) at 8:00 AM and a 5K run or walk (3.1 miles) at 9:30 AM, with the shorter courses based in the park. Participants may run, walk, stroll or even crawl, and everyone finishes beneath an inflatable arch to mark the arrival of spring among the flowers.
