About

Runaway Pumpkin 5K & Family Fest takes place in North Port, Florida, on October 31, 2026. The Mini Monster Dash, a sprint of about 110 yards for the youngest entrants, goes at 8:00 a.m., and the Runaway Pumpkin 5K, 3.1 miles, follows at 8:30 a.m. A family festival runs alongside the racing.

Two starts thirty minutes apart keep the logistics simple for parents: the children run their dash, then you race while they watch. For the 5K, preparation scales to your goal. Finishing it needs little more than three runs a week for a month; racing it needs sharpness, meaning two weekly sessions of short repeats at hard effort and easy running in the final few days. Line up according to your realistic pace, because a family-oriented 5K mixes walkers and racers in the same opening quarter-mile.
