About

Queen City Half Marathon and Breakwater 5K is held on July 24, 2027, in Marquette, Michigan, on the shore of Lake Superior. The 5K (3.1 mi) starts at 8:00 a.m. and the half marathon (13.1 mi) at 8:05 a.m. No elevation gain is listed.

Lake Superior keeps Marquette cool well into July, which makes this one of the more comfortable summer halves in the Midwest — but the same lake produces wind on the exposed shoreline sections. Run those by effort rather than by pace, and remember that five minutes after the 5K start means you will spend the first mile threading through a field running a quarter of your distance.
