About

The Ostrava City Marathon in Ostrava is billed as the oldest running festival in the Czech Republic. On 5 September 2027 it offers a marathon and a half marathon (both starting at 09:00), a 6 x 6 km relay (09:15), a 10 km (09:30) and a 4 km Mini Marathon (13:00).

The course takes in Ostrava's three signature landscapes, starting among the Renaissance façades of the city centre before entering the Dolní Vítkovice industrial complex. Runners pass through former mining sites, now redeveloped, where towering blast furnaces still stand, then follow the regenerated riverside parks along the Ostravice. The most spectacular section runs through the preserved Michal Mine, where period mining equipment lines the route, before heading back to a lively finish on Masaryk Square. Live music, local spirit and camaraderie among endurance athletes create a unique atmosphere all along the way.
