About

The Orlando Josiah Memorial 5k is held each year in Horseheads in memory of Orlando Josiah Vargas, who passed away shortly before his sixth birthday. The 2027 edition takes place on June 26, with the 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk starting at 8:30 a.m.

This community event celebrates his love of sports and includes the 5K walk/run and a kids' fun run. Proceeds go toward a scholarship in his name for a graduate of the Horseheads Central School District. Participants can compete for awards, including cash prizes and medals.
