The Salt Lake City Marathon takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah, in late April, at the foot of the Wasatch Range. Five road distances are offered: the marathon (26.2 miles), the half marathon (13.1 miles), a 10K (6.2 miles), a 5K (3.1 miles) and a short 1.55-mile course. The setting below the mountains makes for appealing scenery, and the range of distances means there is a starting point for everyone, from first-time racers to marathoners. Salt Lake City sits at a fairly high elevation, so runners arriving from sea level may feel the difference and should hydrate well in the days before the race.
