About
The Miami Marathon — officially the Life Time Miami Marathon and Half — starts at Bayfront Park and crosses the MacArthur Causeway during its route through the city. First held in 2002, it has grown into one of Florida's largest running events, drawing more than 25,000 participants from 80 countries in its 2021 edition, with large crowds lining the course.
Three distances are offered: a 5K, a half marathon (13.1 miles), and a full marathon (26.2 miles). The 5K, called the Tropical 5K, links Watson Island to Nikki Beach across the MacArthur Causeway. The half marathon runs through downtown before tracking Biscayne Bay for nearly half its distance, with views of the port and bay. The marathon continues to Coconut Grove before turning back along the port-side coast, passing the Rickenbacker Causeway and the edge of Little Havana. All three courses move through the city's most iconic neighborhoods, alternating skyline and waterfront.
