Jurassic Express Trail Run

The Jurassic Express Trail Run is held on 13 March 2027 in Swanage, on the south coast of England. Three trail races set off at 15-minute intervals: 21.1 km with 473 m of elevation gain at 9am, 16.5 km with 399 m at 9:15am, and 10.5 km with 273 m at 9:30am.

At around 20 metres of climbing per kilometre, all three routes remain runnable while offering enough ascent to justify trail shoes. The 10.5 km is a good introduction for road runners curious about going off-road, the 16.5 km makes a solid long run at the end of a training block, and the 21.1 km is a trail half marathon, where finishing times will naturally be slower than on the road. A few hill sessions and a weekly off-road run are enough to tackle these distances comfortably as winter draws to a close.
